Within the decaying industrial fabric of Ostend, a canvas ripe for transformation, Frankfurt the Mein envisions a pivotal rejuvenation. This site, boasting diverse typology along the Frankfurt River, contends with challenges such as the looming shadows cast by mega bridge infrastructures and constrained access points. In response, the proposed mixed-use project strategically employs a spectrum of urban interventions. Architectural elements are meticulously positioned not only to mitigate shadow challenges but also to elevate the experiences of both visitors and residents. The building's form embraces the river line, stepping incrementally to draw users into inviting recreational courtyards. It exudes an essence of self-containment and mystery upon entry, while being exposed to an array of natural lighting strategies. This creates an atmosphere that respects and harmonizes with the river's presence.
